The Ref Collective
At The Ref Collective, we offer experienced referees for a variety of sports tournaments and leagues. Our team ensures fair play and smooth game management to enhance the sporting experience. The organization was founded by Leon Lipsick and Erik Benz in 2023 out of need to supply local tournaments and leagues with quality officials in the South Florida area.
Leon Lipsick
Leon is a high school basketball official who has officiated five FHSAA state championship games since 2022. He is a member of the Treasure Coast Basketball Officials Association and also officiates women’s college basketball in the Sunshine State Conference, Gulf South Conference, Peach Belt Conference, SUN Conference, and Florida JUCO Region 8 Conference.
Lee is the Director of Risk Control and Program Compliance at the West Palm Beach Housing Authority. In 2016, Lee earned his Floris CPTED Practitioner Designation from the Florida Attorney General's office.
Erik Benz
Erik has been officiating for 15 years. He currently is President of East Coast Basketball Officials Association and Palm Beach Volleyball Officials Association. Erik is a former college basketball official and is a current collegiate volleyball official for indoor and beach volleyball. He has officiated over twenty high school state championship contests across basketball and volleyball. Erik is a member of the FHSAA Advisory Committee
Erik's degree is in finance. He is President of Five K Financial, an accounting and tax-prep company.
